We stayed at Ngulia Safari Lodge, Tsavo West in 2002 for one  night as part of a three day safari through Tsavo West National Park. The lodge itself overlooks a large waterhole which is floodlit by night allowing you to see the nocturnal habits of local animals.
Ngulia Safari Lodge has been built onto the edge of the Ndawe Escarpment. The lodge has been constructed to blend in with the environment, in the best tradition of an ecologically sensitive architectural development. With fantastic panoramic views from the lodge’s main patio, looking out over Tsavo West's plains and a well used waterhole.
The lodge has a swimming pool on the main patio. Many of the rooms overlook the plains too. The food and service was good.
The lodge is an ideal jumping off point from which to explore Kenya's largest National Park and tracking down the big five: buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and rhino. Ngulia Safari Lodge overlooks a famous rhino protected reserve, which is the largest in the world, this almost guarantees an encounter with this rare African mammal.
You are almost certain to see a leopard that visits a 'baited' tree in the precincts of the Ngulia Safari Lodge, Tsavo West. (We didn't see the leopard - but it was there the night before.) Good luck on your visit.
