Masi Mara National Reserve: A rolling plain beneath the Rift Valley escarpment an extension of Tanzania's, Serengeti National Park. Famous for the 'Great Migration' each year during July and August, depending on the weather. You will probably have seen the 'Crossing of the Mara River' on TV where exhausted animals try to cross the fast flowing river with its resident crocs! For one of the best safari holiday locations in Kenya.

Tsavo National Park: The largest game park in Kenya divided in two by the Nairobi to Mombasa highway. Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Open savannah woodland and bush. You will see elephants, giraffe, gazelles and many more herbivores. You should see lions, and buffalo with a possibility of seeing cheetah, leopard and rhino too. Tsavo is the location of Mzima Springs an open area of the park where visitors can leave their safari vehicles, walk along a nature trail to the crystal clear pools that are an un-enclosed area for a herd of resident hippos and quite a few crocodiles.

Samburu ~ Shaba Game Reserve: Two reserves joined by a game corridor around the Uaso Nyiro River. An area of semi-desert. You are likely to see leopard at the Samburu Lodge, where they hang out a meaty bait! Otherwise you should get to see Oryx and other rarer Kenya wildlife.

Amboseli National Park: Close to the Tanzanian border close to Mount Kilimanjaro one good reason for visiting. Here wildlife lives along side the Masai and their cattle.

Aberdare National Park: Adjacent to Mount Kenya amidst the densely wooded foothills. The location of the famous 'Treetops Hotel' overlooking floodlit water holes and clearings. A fantastic chance of seeing every type of Kenya wildlife and birds.

Nairobi for a safari holiday in Kenya. Besides being a bustling city, Nairobi has the Nairobi National Park almost within the city precincts. ~ Well worth a visit if on a short break.
